Roll Mill Set-Up (Sr. or Master) Department: In-Direct Labor Reports To: Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Prepared By: Jerri Stanforth Prepared Date: *** Approved By: Approved Date: Summary Sets up roll mill lines to shape, notch, draw, or crimp metal by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assembles, installs, and aligns dies and rolls in mill, press and cut-off according to specifications. Adjusts machinery to produce product to customer specifications. Positions workpiece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die. Starts press, roll mill and cut-off and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction. Inspects workpieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors. Cleans and lubricates machines. Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and/or quality defects. Monitors product quality (raw, WIP, SQC, and finished goods). Monitor process settings, parameters and outputs. Monitor operator process and quality documentation. Develop/train mill operators and set-up staff on new processes and equipment. Work with supervisor to identify and close any training and/or skill gaps. Monitor machine maintenance. Monitor tool condition. Monitor scrap and defects. Follows all safety rules and operation standards. Supervisory Responsibilities *** This job has no supervisory responsibilities. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and three years Roll Mill Set-Up experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read blue prints. Language Skills *** Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to train/transfer knowledge to employees using verbal and visual methods. Mathematical Skills *** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability *** Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
