Position: Data Conversion Specialist
Location: Naperville, IL
Contract duration: 6 months, possibly be extended or converted to a full-time employee
Interviews: Must have local candidates. Will be 1 phone and 1 onsite interview next week.
- Must have 5+ years of experience with SQL Server database management*
- Must have significant experience with data migration*
- Must have experience with scripting with Python or JavaScript*
- Must have great communication skills*
SUMMARY
- The Data Conversion/Back End Support is responsible for supporting the development team through back end develop and conversion from an existing system.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the design, development and administration of transactional and analytical data constructs/structures.
- Gathers business requirements, promotes ROI and cost benefit analysis, specifying functional specifications and managing project plan, costs, risks and expectations.
- Prioritizes and effectively manages multiple projects based on specific criteria and business requirements.
- Monitors industry trends and implement best practices to improve in-house capabilities.
- Collaborates with IT peers to ensure appropriate overall architecture of the enterprise data warehouse.
- Plays an active role in collaborating with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
- Administers projects to consistently meet cost, resource, time and goal expectations.
- Improves and streamlines processes regarding data flow and*data quality*to improve data accuracy, viability and value.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

- Deep understanding of data structures, management, integration, and retrieval principles
EDUCATION AND\OR EXPERIENCE
Masters of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent degree preferred
At least five year professional experience in data management required, experience should include:
- SQL, Java, Python experience working in complex database environment
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge (Transact-SQL/ Microsoft SQL server preferred but general SQL knowledge will do )
- Scripting skills ( any scripting language will do but Python or JavaScript preferred)
- 5+ years of experience dealing with SQL data migration, conversions, debugging and documenting legacy data sets.
- Familiarity with Java
Detail-oriented, able to work effectively under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
Able to work independently and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making.
Able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects based on business needs and requirements.
Banking or Financial reporting related experience is a plus
